Minimal signs of handling. Please see photographs. Karl Schonherr (1867-1943) was a renowned Viennese physician, philosopher, and writer. Emil Stumpp, a great painter, lithographer, and illustrator of the Weimar Republic, became famous primarily for his profound portrait studies. During the 1920s and early 1930s, his portraits included famous figures such as Bertolt Brecht, Thomas Mann, Le Corbusier, and Giraudoux. He also produced a caricature portrait of Hitler in 1933, which resulted in his official disqualification from participating in German exhibitions and publishing his work. Emil Stumpp spent the following years abroad, working primarily in France. When he returned to Germany for a holiday in 1940, he was arrested and imprisoned, where he died the following year. The British Museum holds a signed lithograph, like ours, of "Bildnis Karl Schonherrs" in its permanent collection (registration number: 1929,0114.64). __________________________________ Professional packaging with all security measures.
