Description from the seller

The Glenfiddich Classic is a classic—and now discontinued—"Pure Malt" (an older term for single malt) Scotch whisky from the Speyside region. Bottled early 1990's.
This bottle is stunning; It weighs 1.3 kg (gross weight), indicating that the fill level is still perfect (unfortunately, this cannot be photographed due to the bottle's tinted glass).

Glenfiddich Classic is a so-called No Age Statement (NAS) whisky. This means that no specific distillation date or exact age is stated on the bottle. It was a relatively short-lived expression introduced by the distillery as an early 'prestige' release, just before Glenfiddich completely modernized its core range around the turn of the millennium (shifting the focus to clear age statements such as the well-known 12, 15, and 18-year-old expressions).

When Glenfiddich Classic was introduced in the early 1990s, the distillery chose to assign a unique serial number—applied either manually or mechanically—to each bottle. They did this to emphasize the "limited and exclusive" nature of this sherry-finished expression. This bottle bears the unique individual bottle number (often referred to as the cask or bottle registration number) E 08292. The presence of this specific type of numbering clearly indicates an early bottling from the 1992–1995 period. This means the whisky inside contains distillates produced as far back as the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Since the bottles were released in the 1990s and—according to distillery records—the whisky is a marriage of casks aged between 10 and 20 years, the contents were distilled between the early 1970s and the early 1980s. The casks from that specific distillation period underwent an initial maturation in American oak bourbon casks, followed by a shorter period of finishing in European sherry casks prior to bottling.

Background and Characteristics:
- Origin: The bottle dates from an earlier bottling era when Glenfiddich used the term "Pure Malt" on the label, before "Single Malt" became the global standard.
- Maturation: This whisky underwent dual maturation in a combination of American ex-bourbon casks and European sherry casks.
- Flavor Profile: Known for Glenfiddich’s signature soft, fruity character (such as ripe pear) combined with subtle notes of oak, vanilla, and warm spiciness derived from the sherry casks.
- Strength: Bottled at an alcohol content of 43%.
- Current Status: It has become a rare collector's item, as production ceased some time ago.
