Title: Extremely rare solid silver Hahway Imperator "Patent 3" lighter – Hofmann & Wild – Unused condition (NOS) c. 1910-1920
Description:
Offered for auction: a museum-grade masterpiece for the serious collector of antique tobacciana. It is an original solid silver Hahway Imperator semi-automatic petrol lighter, produced by the renowned German metalware factory Hofmann & Wild (Pforzheim/Munich).
This specific piece is the sought-after "Patent 3" variant, recognizable by the razor-sharp, deep factory stamps on the narrow side, including the iconic circular H.W. logo with the sparking cogwheel. The bottom of the casing bears an official silver hallmark. A video showing the lighter in operation is available on request.
Condition:
• Condition: Absolute New Old Stock (NOS) / unused. The silver outer casing is in fabulous condition with no notable pocket wear or deep scratches. The stamps and engravings remain factory-fresh and razor-sharp.
• Mechanism: The internal mechanism (steel/brass insert) is 100% original, complete, intact, and undamaged. As technically appropriate for this early model, the inner workings are removable (loose fit) to allow maintenance or refilling.
• Weight: 47.60 grams (fully consistent with original silver specifications).
