Description from the seller
Old Perpetual Calendar and Pink Bakelite Cigarette Case with Silver Inlays – Vintage (1930s/1950s)
A absolutely charming, unusual collection piece with great decorative value! This is a combined desk item (perpetual calendar and cigarette case) original from the 1930s to 1950s, a perfect reflection of mid‑twentieth century utilitarian elegance.
The piece is made of beautiful pink marbled bakelite/celluloid, featuring a highly coveted pastel shade among collectors of retro pieces.
The great differentiator and prestige element of this item are its ornamental applications and the “Cigarr os” lettering executed in silver, which contrast exquisitely with the pink structure.
On the top, it features a functional mechanical roller system that displays the days of the week and months in Portuguese (such as "SÁBADO", "SETEMBRO" and "OUTUBRO"). In the center of the curved lid, access leads to the lower compartment or drawer designed for storage. A superb piece for decorating prestigious desks, bookshelves, or enriching a collection of utilitarian silverware and vintage objects.
