Beautiful hand-carved and polychrome wooden figure from the renowned Albert Comploj woodcarving workshop in Ortisei (St. Ulrich), Val Gardena, South Tyrol, Italy. The figure depicts an elegantly dressed female saint or allegorical religious figure, holding a bouquet of flowers in one hand and an arrow in the other. She wears an elaborate flowing robe with richly applied gold and silver-coloured details. Particularly attractive is the finely carved face with delicate features, painted eyes and softly modelled hair. The numerous folds of the garments, flowers, hands and attributes demonstrate the traditional craftsmanship associated with Val Gardena woodcarving.
