Description from the seller
Large Vintage West German Pottery Vase / Jug – Scheurich Style – 32 cm
Striking large vintage West German ceramic vase/jug, designed in the characteristic style associated with Scheurich and the Fat Lava era, dating approximately from the 1960s–1970s.
The piece has a bold rounded form with a large integrated handle. The upper section is finished in a vibrant glossy red glaze, decorated with a distinctive raised repeating scallop/arch pattern with dark contrasting accents. The lower section features a matte black textured surface with vertical relief, creating a beautiful contrast between colour, texture and finish.
The underside bears incised numbers/markings, visible in the photographs. The exact manufacturer cannot be confirmed with certainty; therefore, the vase is described as Scheurich-style West German pottery rather than definitively attributed.
Height: approx. 32 cm
Material: Ceramic / stoneware
Colours: Red and black
Origin: Germany
Period: circa 1960s–1970s
Style: Mid-Century Modern / West German Pottery / Fat Lava era
