• Origins and training: He grew up in an artisanal environment; his father was a gilder and his uncles were wall painters, which marked his early contact with textures and pigments. He studied at the Escuela de Artes y Oficios de la Llotja in Barcelona.
• Pictorial evolution: His beginnings were linked to realist figuration and socially themed subjects. However, after a stay in Paris in 1953 thanks to a grant from the Institut Français, his style changed drastically after discovering cubism and contemporary currents.
