Raku-yaki (楽焼) - Tea bowl - Clay

This Japanese Black Raku tea bowl features a rich, lustrous black glaze (Kuro-Raku) with a fascinating texture exhibiting fine dimples and variations characteristic of hand-molded Raku ware. A notable feature of this piece is the beautiful vertical brownish-amber streak on the side, creating a wonderful natural "scenery" (Keshiki) that enhances its wabi-sabi aesthetic.

The rim is elegantly undulating, mimicking a mountain range (Gogaku), which fits comfortably against the lips. Near the foot, it bears a distinct circular seal impressed with the character "Raku" (樂), beautifully highlighted with gold pigment/glaze.
