Ge-Type Crackle Glaze Dragon Vase — Iron-Brown Decoration - Porcelain - China - Early 20th century
Description
Elegantly proportioned vase of classic baluster form — flared rim edged in warm amber-brown, tapering neck, broad shoulder and gracefully tapering body to a firm foot. The entire surface is covered in a creamy white glaze with a fine, even network of natural crackling, characteristic of Ge-ware aesthetics. Applied in raised, dark iron-brown slip is a powerful five-clawed dragon coiling dynamically around the body, chasing a flaming pearl amid stylised clouds and fire motifs — rendered in high relief with sharp definition and imposing presence. Bold dark bands accent the shoulder and foot, balancing the design and lending a striking, monumental quality.
