This transparent glass object is a vintage iconic hot plate from the 1970s, designed on a model inspired by brutalism.

Origin and features

• Model / Designer: This is the flagship Bel Mondo model, produced by Becker Design.
• Manufacturer / Provenance: Originally manufactured in West Germany (W. Germany) by Georgshütte Glassworks (sometimes spelled Georg Shutte).
• Use: A tea light is placed at the center of the solid circular glass structure. The petals or relief tips then diffuse spectacular light reflections while keeping dishes or teapots warm. Its imposing organic shape also allows it to serve as a simple centerpiece, a classic trivet, or a large candle holder/lantern.
