Description from the seller
• Base: The sculptural base features a classical, semi-nude maiden or nymph winding amidst stylized organic stalks. It is typical of the French Art Nouveau movement, which emphasized flowing, asymmetrical lines inspired by nature. While it shares design elements with works by famous French sculptors of the era like Auguste Moreau or Charles Perron, these lamps were often produced in specialized foundries across Europe.
• Material: The base appears to be made of patinated bronze, brass, or spelter (a zinc alloy frequently used to cast statues with a bronze-toned coating). The four-footed scroll base features classic Rococo/Baroque-revival styling common in late-Victorian era lighting.
• The Lampshade: The fabric shade is done in a traditional Victorian / French style. It features a dome shape adorned with a decorative woven trim and cascading textile fringe. While the shade captures the antique aesthetic perfectly, it could be a well-crafted later reproduction or a re-covered piece, as original silk and fabric shades from the 1900s rarely survive in such pristine condition
