Indian polychromed devotional figure with two small attendants, a 46 cm high sculpture from the siglo XX, in good original condition with an elaborately decorated pedestal.
Description from the seller
A magnificent sculptural figure of a religious nature, executed in traditional Indian style and decorated with polychromy in shades of green, red, blue, cream, and gold/ochre. The piece depicts a female figure of divine character, standing on an elaborate pedestal and accompanied by two small assistant figures.
The deity presents four arms, an elaborate crown, a decorated halo, and numerous ornamental details. In the upper hands she holds floral elements reminiscent of the lotus, while the lower hands adopt traditional gestures of blessing and protection. The green attire is richly decorated and shows especially detailed sculptural work.
One of the most interesting aspects of the piece is its aged finish and its polychromy preserved irregularly, which confer an extraordinary presence and character. Pigment losses, wear, small cracks, and marks typical of its conservation state are evident, leaving visible in many spots the original surface of the sculpture. These signs of age and use are part of the aesthetic of the piece and add an attractive patina.
The pedestal is especially elaborate, with relief ornamental motifs, geometric elements, and polychrome decoration, forming a sculptural ensemble of great presence.
A very decorative piece of great interest to collectors of Asian art, Indian religious sculpture, traditional art, and objects of a spiritual character, which stands out both for its iconography and for the richness of its details and its authentically aged appearance.
Condition: used/antique, with generalized wear to the polychromy, small losses, cracks, and marks visible in the photographs. It is recommended to carefully review all images to appreciate the state of conservation.
