Description from the seller
Two Thai bronze hands on a museum display stand
Buddha hand: H 27.5 × W 17 cm
A particularly decorative ensemble of two authentic Thai bronze Buddha hands
The sculpture consists of a large bronze hand with exceptionally long, graceful fingers.
On the palm there is a raised lotus- or rosette motif, a Buddhist symbol that reinforces the ritual meaning of the fragment.
The stylized anatomy, elongated fingers and refined modeling are characteristic of the idealized body forms of traditional Thai Buddhist statues.
The hand is an autonomous historical fragment and originally formed part of a larger bronze statue.
Old surface and natural patina
Both bronzes have a richly developed surface with dark brown, green and earth tones.
Local copper oxidation, wear, small irregularities and accumulation in the deeper parts are part of the natural aging of the objects and give each fragment its individual character.
