Item Description This is a square two-tier jubako (stacked box) with a fitted lid, decorated in the traditional Japanese Kamakura-bori style. Chrysanthemum flowers and leaves are carved in relief across the lid and all four sides of both tiers. The carving is crisp, with finely incised petal lines and stippled flower centres. The glossy red finish contrasts with the dark recessed background of the design. The box has softly rounded corners and a black interior. It makes a decorative storage box for small items, trinkets or accessories.
