Mortar - Gilt brass - Small mortar pestle

Splendid and characteristic small mortar complete with its original pestle, made of solid brass (or cast bronze) in the second half of the 20th century. The design is inspired by classic ancient mortars from pharmacies and apothecaries.
The central body is decorated with a relief band worked with an "excavated" effect, depicting figurative scenes of classical taste and vertical geometric decorations. The base and the inner top show the characteristic tool marks of a lathe finish. The pestle features an elegant knobby handle.
Excellent as a vintage decorative accessory, paperweight, catchall, or display piece for collectors of metal collectibles.
