Description from the seller
Stunning Val Saint Lambert Crystal Vase - Model 'Cahors' - Cobalt Blue
Description:
For sale: An breathtaking, original crystal vase from the renowned Belgian crystal manufacturer Val Saint Lambert. It concerns the iconic and much-loved model "Cahors", produced in the post-war glory years of the factory (ca. 1950 - 1970).
This vase is entirely handcrafted and saw-cut in the historic headquarters in Seraing (Belgium) according to the traditional crystal doublé technique: a base of ultra-pure, heavy clear crystal with a refined cobalt blue overlay layer. The geometric Art Deco-style diamond pattern (diamond-cut) and the elegant arches at the top are deeply cut by the master grinders, creating a beautiful play of light. The underside features the characteristic, hand-cut 24-point star.
Condition of the object:
The vase is in absolute top condition / like-new. There are no chips, no damage and no traces of limescale. The vase has always stood on display in a cabinet and has presumably never been used functionally, which has preserved the crystal’s maximum, factory-original brilliance.
Product hallmark: This model originates from a period in which vases with a deep starry base were exclusively equipped with a paper foil sticker, because there was no flat surface on the bottom for a punch stamp. The sticker has worn away over the decades, but authenticity is 100% guaranteed by the model-specific characteristics and the exceptional artisanal finish from Seraing.
Specifications:
• Manufacturer: Val Saint Lambert
• Place of manufacture: Seraing (Belgium)
• Production period: Ca. 1950 - 1970 (Mid-Century)
