Authentic Graansma autolamp cabinet from 1930–1940, made of wood in the Netherlands; in good used condition with minor signs of aging, dimensions 33 x 22.5 x 5 cm, with a glass lid and a chain.
Description from the seller
Authentic Graansma's autolampenkist. Such cases were used by representatives as a countertop display or demonstration case in garages and shops.
The main features and details of the interior are:
• The compartments: The case is divided into specific wooden compartments to keep glass tube lamps (also called tube lamps, party lighting, or festoon lamps) vibration-free and neatly organized. This type of lamp was widely used in vintage vehicles for interior lighting, dashboard lighting, and license plate lighting.
• Type numbering and size indications: Above the compartments are small numbered metal or paper labels (such as 38x11, 35x7, 30x6 and 3082). These codes conveyed the exact physical dimensions in millimeters (for example 38 mm long by 11 mm wide) or referred to the specific order numbers in the supplier’s catalog.
• Wattage indications: Some labels also show the power (such as 6 WATT 6284), which was crucial for the mechanic to select the right strength for the dashboard or interior lighting.
• Glass cover and chain: The case features a glass pane so the stock was immediately visible without opening the case. The metal chain on the left side kept the lid neatly propped open while selecting the lamps."
