Large ceramic vase in Empire style from Spain, dating to 1970–1980, with a tall, slender body (57 cm high, 30 cm wide, 27 cm deep), blue‑grey patinated finish, gilded accents on handles and ornaments, and a helicoidal surface relief, in good used condition with minor signs of age and imperfections.
Description from the seller
This large ceramic vase in Empire style, made during the second half of the 20th century, stands out for its imposing decorative presence and for the careful reinterpretation of neoclassical models inspired by the French taste of the Napoleonic era. Its design evokes the monumental shapes of ancient Greco-Roman craters, as valued by Empire style for their balance, solemnity, and architectural elegance.
The piece features a vertically elongated body of generous dimensions, decorated with a dynamic helicoidal relief that runs along the entire vertical surface, providing visual depth and an attractive play of light and shadow. The patinated blue-gray finish enhances the sculptural character of the vase, while golden details applied to the handles, rims, and ornamental elements create a refined color contrast with a strong decorative impact.
The side handles, with pronounced curves and volute terminals, are one of the most representative elements of Empire style. These classical forms are complemented by decorative friezes inspired by the ornamental repertoire of Antiquity, including vegetal motifs and repetitive moldings that enrich the composition without diminishing its elegance.
Raised on a molded circular base that provides stability and presence, this vase has a marked architectural character capable of becoming the focal point of any room. Its large size makes it especially suitable for receptions, living rooms, galleries, or formal spaces, where it can shine as an autonomous decorative piece or accompanied by arrangements of dried or artificial flowers.
The bottom retains the manufacturing mark, testimony to its origin and to its quality mass production during the second half of the 20th century. It is a piece with a strong visual impact that combines the nobility of classical forms with an elegant, timeless decorative execution, ideal for interiors inspired by classical, neoclassical, or eclectic styles.
Certified shipping and good packaging.
