Description from the seller
Elegant Savonarola chair by Italian artisan woodworkers in wood.
Made in the second half of the 20th century in Italy.
This is an elegant chair, model "Savonarola", foldable, like a book, in wood, composed of serpentine-curved elements and cross X, with backrest and armrests; with decorative forms entirely hand-carved.
The term Savonarola derives from the name Girolamo Savonarola (1452 - 1498), in whose era the chair of this type would still be preserved in his cell at the San Marco convent in Florence, where he lived from 1482 until his death.
Dimensions open
65 x 50 cm, height about 84 cm.
Dimensions closed
15 x 48 cm, height about 85 cm.
Weight about 8 kg.
In good condition of preservation, it shows signs due to use and time, in particular woodworm holes, treated with anti-tworm products.
