A vintage wall mirror in baroque/rococo style, model “Theater” and made of ceramic earthenware, produced in Austria in the mid 20th century (1950–1960), with a white crackle glaze, external dimensions 18 x 13.5 cm and internal 9 x 7 cm, weight 330 g, and in good condition with minor signs of aging and spots.
Description from the seller
A particularly atmospheric and highly decorative vintage wall mirror in baroque/Rococo style is offered. This beloved model is known among collectors and enthusiasts of European design as the "Theater" mirror. The object was manufactured in Austria around the mid-20th century.
The elegantly undulating, richly decorated frame is made of high-quality earthenware and finished with a full white glaze. This glaze exhibits a beautiful, very refined and characteristic craquelé effect that gives the mirror its unique vintage appearance.
On the back, the mirror is left unglazed, allowing the original red terracotta clay to be beautifully visible. Here you will also find the authentic, sharply incised markings: the text "Made in Austria" and the official factory stamp with the initials 'TH' (to be attributed to one of the prominent Viennese/Austrian art ceramic studios from that flourishing period).
