Description from the seller

Elegant pair of old piano candle holders, known as Klavierleuchter or Pianoleuchter, made of brass, most likely in Germany in the early 20th century, around 1900–1920. The candle holders represent Jugendstil / Art Nouveau design, typical of European artistic craftsmanship at the turn of the 19th to 20th century. The producer and designer remain undetermined.

The items are distinguished by an exceptionally elegant, flowing line of arms, reminiscent of stylized stems or elongated leaves. Their asymmetrically bent, gradually flaring profiles create a decorative, sculptural composition. This is an interesting example of Art Nouveau design, where inspiration from organic forms of nature was combined with functionality and meticulous detailing.

Each candlestick features an elongated oval base with four mounting holes, enabling attachment to a vertical surface. The arms are mounted on metal hinges, allowing their position to be adjusted. At the top are wide, circular caps to catch dripping wax, with centrally placed threaded socket for candles. The joints of the arms with the caps are adorned with delicate rings with a decorative, beaded profile.

These kinds of candle holders were originally installed on either side of a piano or grand piano to illuminate the keyboard and sheet music during playing. Today they may serve as decorative wall candle holders, an interesting element of furnishing antique interiors, a collection of Art Nouveau crafts, or a decor inspired by the Art Nouveau style.

The depth of each candlestick, measured from the base to the extended part, is about 22 cm. The dimensions of the oval mounting bases are 10.5 × 7.5 cm. The diameter of the round caps is about 9 cm, and the candle recess depth is about 2 cm.

Condition is good, vintage, appropriate for age and visible in the photos. Brass surfaces have retained their natural patina, with localized discolorations, oxidation marks, and minor scratches resulting from years of use. The candle holders have not been cleaned or polished, thus preserving their authentic character. The item for sale is a set of two candle holders shown in the photos.

I do not ship to the USA, countries subject to customs duties (shipping from Poland - I do not ship to: United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, China, United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Serbia, Ukraine, Liechtenstein) nor to Middle Eastern countries affected by conflict.
