Two wall-mounted antique newspaper holders from the early 20th century, made of wood and brass.
Description from the seller
Two antique, wall-mounted newspaper racks (or lectern racks) from the early 20th century, made of wood and brass (yellow brass). They were formerly hung in the hallway or living room to neatly store newspapers and letters.
Features of the holders
• Left holder ("Couranten"): This is a typical Dutch model. It has a dark oak back panel with two brass tiers for inserting newspapers. At the top there is a brass nameplate with the classic Dutch text "COURANTEN".
• Right holder ("Journaux"): This piece is executed in the graceful French Art Deco or Art Nouveau style. The lighter wooden back panel features a wide brass compartment engraved with the French word "Journaux" (newspapers), surrounded by detailed floral motifs and graceful curls.
Dimensions: listed with the photos.
Condition: excellent condition, of course with signs of use as seen in the photos.
Photos are part of the description.
These are taken under artificial light; the color may differ. Mood impressions are shown.
They are well packed and sent by registered post.
