Description from the seller
Refined rosewood and walnut burl jewelry box – Fine cabinetmaking – Late 19th / Early 20th century
Elegant antique box dating from the late 1800s or early 1900s, characterized by high-quality handcrafted cabinetry and a refined combination of wood species.
The lid features a splendid central panel in walnut burl, worked with a bird's-eye (open-grain) effect and a mirrored arrangement of the grain (bookmatched burl walnut), capable of creating a striking natural pattern. The composition is embellished by a delicate light border and a wide frame, which give depth and elegance to the whole.
The interior, fully lined in rich red fabric, offers a spacious compartment, ideal for storing jewelry, watches, documents and small precious objects. The exterior base is protected by black felt.
A fascinating example of period cabinetmaking, with sober elegance and refined decorative qualities, perfect as a jewelry box, desk box, or refined complement for classic rooms, studies, and interiors with a discerning taste.
