Description from the seller

This object is a vintage cigarette case or visiting card holder of British make, manufactured from silver-plated metal.
The impressed stamps on the inside tell the exact story of the material:
• MADE IN ENGLAND: This indicates the region of production, where, from roughly the mid-19th to the 20th century, high-quality silverware was produced on a large scale.
• EPNS: This stands for Electroplated Nickel Silver. This means that the object has a base of nickel silver (a strong alloy of copper, nickel and zinc), onto which, via electrolysis, a very thin layer of pure silver has been applied. Despite the name, the core itself therefore contains no real silver.
• Brand name: Just above the text, in ornate letters, a brand name is engraved. Although the letters have faded somewhat due to wear, this points to the specific British manufacturer.
