Description from the seller

Museum-quality antique silver & glass pilgrimage bottle with a three-masted sailing ship mount (nef) – 800 solid silver partially gilded (vermeil) – Historicism circa 1890/1900.

Exquisite and museum-grade antique display bottle from the Historicism era (around 1890–1900).
This extraordinary collectible captivates with the masterful and rare combination of amber-colored glass and a richly decorated mount made of genuine 800 solid silver with noble, original full gilding (vermeil).
The piece stylistically belongs to the renowned and globally esteemed Hanau silver, and was crafted by a renowned Hanau silver manufactory in excellent workmanship.
A special highlight is the fully three-dimensionally worked mount in the shape of a three-masted sailing ship (nef) on a wave-like ornament, mounted throne-like on the top rim of the bottle. The fully gilded silver mount is open along the circumference in a magnificent Renaissance style and intricately chased. It shows fine figurative scenes, including detailed buildings, windmills and landscapes. The amber glass body features an artistic, surrounding acid-etching with floral motifs as well as fine landscape, windmill and church-tower scenes. The original, also gilded, silver stopper blends seamlessly into the overall magnificent image with its delicate cord and bead decoration.

The silver on the neck bears the hallmark “800” for fineness, the German Empire mark, and the model number “205.” The dimensions are approximately 23 cm high and 19 cm wide, with a substantial total weight of 1003 grams.

At the delicate rigging of the sailing ship, some of the thin silver wires (cords) are missing due to age, which is common for pieces of this age. The original gilding is partly minimally rubbed, which charmingly underscores the antique character of this prunkstück. The glass is undamaged, clear, and shows a splendid color.

An absolute highlight for any discerning display case and for collectors of historicist silver splendor!
