A single mid‑century Italian brass and iron (ottone and ferro) ashtray dating to 1940–1950, in discrete, well‑used condition with probable small parts missing, measuring 76 cm high, 17.5 cm wide and 17.5 cm deep and featuring a central threaded pin wrapped by a black lacquered metal lance and a top ring handle for lifting.
Description from the seller
Elegant solid brass ashtray dating from the mid-20th century, of Italian manufacture and origin. Characterized by artisanal workmanship typical of mid-century, it features a pronounced patina of age with mixed oxidation and a rough, unpolished texture from sand casting. A central threaded pivot wrapped by a black lacquered metal spear creates a sleek and very elegant line. The top part with a refined ring handle is designed to lift and move the object within interiors. Minimalist style and aesthetics, inspired by famous Northern European productions, mostly Swedish (Gunnar Ander, Ystad-Metall) but also by Italian manufacturers of the same period, such as Stilnovo. Originally conceived as a resting place for smokers, today these objects are sought after by interior designers, reinterpreted as small decorative tables, or as a catchall tray for entryways and living rooms. The brass weighs nearly 700 grams. Shipping, as usual, is meticulous to its new home.
