Description from the seller

This object is a bell wheel. By means of a lever or swivel arm, the wheel with the bells can be turned manually, causing the clappers to repeatedly strike the bronze bells and produce a continuously clear ringing sound.
• Function: Originally larger variants were used in the Catholic liturgy as an altar wheel or altar carillon (sacring bell wheel) to attract the attention of the faithful during Mass (especially at the consecration). Later (and often more compact) replicas and variants from the 19th and 20th centuries became popular as decorative pieces, often referred to as a rotating mechanical doorbell, gate bells, shop bell, or altar carillon/altar wheel.
• Materials: The frame and the hanging bracket are made of hand-forged iron. The bells themselves are made of bronze.

This model is a 20th-century (vintage) variant (produced between 1920 and 1970).
All clappers are present and the mechanism rotates smoothly.

This authentic device is made from a sturdy handmade iron frame and is equipped with 8 beautifully resonant bronze bells. When the lever is turned, the wheel turns and a clapper strikes the bells repeatedly, producing a distinctive, bright and nostalgic carillon. Perfect as decoration, a unique collector's item
Material: bronze
Number of bells: 8 pieces, fully complete with clapper set
Operation: The mechanism runs smoothly and all bells sound correctly

A scarce item for the antique and curiosa enthusiast
