AI-assisted summary
Description from the seller
Elegant decorative standing Art Deco ashtray. The ashtray probably dates from the 1930s or 1940s. It is turned from oak and at the top has a twisted ashtray (see photos). The ashtray is therefore entirely wood, including the ashtray section. It is 62 cm tall, and the diameter of the broad base is 21 cm. The diameter of the top is about 15.5 cm.
The ashtray has three resting places for cigarettes. The twisted stem is still in good condition. There is a faint scorch mark on the rim, and a spot where some wood has been sanded away (see photos), and the inside is logically blackened. The scorch marks are superficial and typical of a used ashtray.
The base is extra wide to prevent the ashtray from tipping over if someone bumps into it.
The ashtray is a nostalgic object, once a familiar sight in every living room, but now a rarity.
The ashtray will be carefully packed and insured for shipping.
Seller's Story
I generally sell antiques and vintage products. But also products, sometimes from the 21st century, that I find particularly appealing. The products I sell are very diverse in nature; from lamps to side tables, from telephones to wooden carvings, from vintage kitchen equipment to Art Deco and Art Nouveau coat hooks, and everything in between. The things I buy are usually items that I personally find beautiful and that are of high quality. It often costs me to part with them!
My expertise lies mainly in products from the 20th century.
I ship in used boxes in combination with paper filling material, or plastic filling material that is inside boxes that are sent to me. The boxes are sturdy. Usually made of double cardboard. I ship, unless otherwise agreed, always within two days after purchase. I place great value on a friendly, decent and reliable contact with my buyers.
