AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Sublime French Art Deco-era pair of bookends from the 1930s.

This poetic composition depicts a duo of singing birds nestled within stylized foliage. Executed in régule, the sculpture benefits from a superb original patina that plays on contrasts: the birds wear a warm bronze/gold tint, while the foliage is enhanced with a very bright greenish-blue turquoise patina.

The piece is engraved with the signature “TEDD” at the bottom of the plant-like structure (a French workshop/sculptor mark known for his animal creations in the 1930s).

Each subject rests on a black-veined marble plaque, bringing elegance and excellent stability to support your books.

The patina shows slight wear consistent with its age (see photos), which gives it its charm and authenticity. The marble bases are well preserved without any major cracks. The underside retains its original felt.
