Cigarette case - Iron - Damascene smithing

This fine piece originates from the renowned workshop of Fujii Yoshitoyo (artist name “Biho”), one of the leading masters of traditional Japanese damascene smithing (Zōgan). Authenticity is guaranteed by the golden artist’s signature on the front as well as the stamped workshop mark on the inside (the stylized depiction of Mount Fuji with two crossbars). Additionally, the inside bears the manufacturing designation “K. 24 GOLD INLAID.”

The case is in a beautiful, authentic original condition with a charming, age-appropriate patina. It is an heirloom from my uncle, who lived in Sumatra for a long time.
