Description from the seller

No reserve price!

Art Nouveau / Historicist-style desk frame with Belgian coat of arms.

Desk frame (photo frame) in fused metal alloy (patinated bronze/brass or antimony), richly relief-decorated with vegetal and heraldic motifs. Front ornamented at the base with a figure of a heraldic lion and a ship/caravel, the top crowned by a heraldic shield with a rampant lion under a royal crown. Back equipped with a period ribbed card backing and a support rod (tie) articulated in wrought iron, fixed by an upper screw. Includes an old black-and-white photograph.

Shows wear due to age, natural oxidation, and dark patina on the metal. Wear on the back card. Functional support rod. No apparent breaks in the cast/molded structure.

Photo included.

Seller's Story

Antiques are my enormous passion; all the items I have up for auction were found at antique fairs and from antique dealers mainly in the Lisbon area, but also from the rest of Portugal. Only pieces of good quality, distinctly original and obviously beautiful. Quality guarantee and very careful shipping of the pieces. ATTENTION: If you are interested in one of my pieces that has a reserve price, please note that I will absolutely not offer it for less than 80% of the reserve value of the piece. And I should also note that if that piece is not sold here on Catawiki, I will sell it at another auction house, so if you’re really interested in any of my pieces, buy it when you see it the first time. Thank you very much
