AUTHENTICITY, CONDITION AND DOCUMENTATION

Verifying condition and authenticity is central to our activity. Jewelry in gold and silver, silverware, watches, signed clothing and accessories are examined based on the item’s characteristics and available documentation.

Any certificates or expert reports are provided when explicitly stated in the description or can be requested before bidding, subject to availability, content and any costs. Catawiki’s expert review is distinct from our expert assessment and does not replace an individual certificate.

Description and photographs document the item offered, its accessories and stated conditions. For used or vintage items, signs of time and use are evaluated in relation to the nature, era and condition of the item. Photographs supplement the description without limiting responsibility for inaccurate features or undisclosed defects.

Only accessories and documents explicitly indicated are included. Brands mentioned belong to their respective owners; mention identifies the items and does not imply affiliation or authorization from the house.

PREPARATION, SHIPMENT AND DELIVERY

Each item is checked, cleaned or sanitized in a manner compatible with materials and storage, then carefully packaged.

Shipping is tracked and insured under the service terms used. Items may be stored in different warehouses: please allow approximately 7–10 days for delivery, unless otherwise indicated in the order, for special destinations or customs delays. Shipping will occur under the terms foreseen by Catawiki and communicated for the order; the estimated delivery time does not extend the stated shipping deadline.

Upon receipt, check the packaging. If there are dents, cuts, openings or breaks, ask the courier to note a specific reservation if possible. We recommend photographing the package before and after opening and keeping packaging, protective materials and label to facilitate any insurance checks.

The absence of a reservation, photos or packaging does not automatically waive the consumer’s non-derogable rights. In consumer sales, transport risk is governed by Article 63 of the Consumer Code.

ASSISTANCE AND REPORTS

For any clarification or issue, contact us via the order messaging on Catawiki, stating the lot number and describing what you found.

In case of damage, item not as described or missing content, promptly report the problem to Catawiki support, preferably immediately and in any case within 3 days as per the platform’s procedure, to enable the claim process and possible suspension of payment.

This operational term does not imply waiver of the right of withdrawal or of the legal guarantees in the applicable terms.

CONSUMER WITHDRAWAL

When the buyer acts as a consumer and the legal requirements are met, they may exercise the right of withdrawal without motivation within 14 days of receiving the item, pursuant to Articles 52 et seq. of Legislative Decree 206/2005, subject to statutory exceptions.

The decision must be communicated to the seller via an explicit declaration, also using the Catawiki procedure. The item must be returned within 14 days of withdrawal notice.

For mere reconsideration, the direct cost of return is charged to the buyer, unless otherwise agreed. Amounts legally due, including standard initial delivery costs, will be reimbursed; higher costs for a more expensive delivery chosen by the buyer are not owed.

The refund is made without undue delay and within legal terms, with the possibility of suspending it until receipt of the item or proof of return, as permitted by law. Amounts collected directly by Catawiki are handled through the platform under the respective competencies, subject to non-derogable rights.

The buyer is liable for any decrease in value resulting from handling beyond what is necessary to verify the nature, characteristics and functioning of the item, within the legal limits.

LEGAL WARRANTY AND DEFECTS OF CONFORMITY

In consumer sales, the legal conformity warranty applies per Articles 128 et seq. of the Consumer Code, also for used items, taking into account prior use and the contractually declared characteristics.

The standard duration of liability is two years from delivery. For used items, any reduction, not less than one year, applies only if validly agreed and permitted by applicable law.

In case of a defect of conformity, the consumer is entitled to remedies provided by law: repair or replacement where practicable, or reduction of price or contract termination when warranted.

Our commercial preference is to resolve legitimate disputes by returning the item and providing a full refund when appropriate, rather than negotiating informal discounts. This preference does not exclude mandatory remedies, including price reduction.

If return arises from a defect attributable to the seller, the necessary costs are borne by us under the law. Costs for other scenarios of cancellation are determined by the cause of cancellation and applicable provisions.

RETURNS, REPAIRS AND INTEGRITY OF THE ITEM

Before performing repairs, restorations, adjustments or interventions by third parties, contact us to verify the issue and agree on a solution. Unauthorized interventions may alter the original state, compromise assessments, and affect liability for damages or defects caused.

There is no automatic refund for interventions commissioned to third parties. The buyer’s non-derogable rights remain intact: an unauthorized intervention does not by itself cause loss of all protections for defects independent of the intervention.

The returned item must include accessories and documents received and be protected with proper packaging. Please attach the order reference and, if available, a copy of the sales document. The original receipt is not the only accepted proof of purchase.

EXTRA-EU SHIPMENTS AND CUSTOMS REQUIREMENTS

For destinations outside the European Union, including the United Kingdom, Switzerland, China, Taiwan, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates, duties, taxes and customs charges may apply, depending on destination and order conditions. Amounts already collected by the platform are not automatically due again.

If necessary, fiscal or identifying data may be requested for customs clearance. A passport number will be requested only if truly required by applicable rules or the carrier’s or competent authority’s documented instructions.

We invite buyers to check import restrictions in advance. For items subject to special regimes, including CITES or cultural property, shipment remains subject to legal export/import possibility and to the necessary documents.

CUSTOMER IDENTIFICATION AND DATA PROTECTION

In distance selling of valuables subject to identification obligations, a valid identity document is required and remote identification is performed according to applicable law.

If essential information is missing to fulfill a legal obligation, the transaction cannot be completed until regularized. Any cancellation and refund will be managed with Catawiki according to applicable law and conditions, without automatic liability exclusions.

Personal data will be processed for contractual, fiscal, customs purposes and other applicable legal obligations, in compliance with EU Regulation 2016/679 and Legislative Decree 196/2003. Only necessary data will be requested, with information on purposes, methods and retention times.
