Description from the seller

French Art Nouveau tin bowls, including a signed example by A. E. Chanal – circa 1900–1920

Description:
Decorative lot consisting of two tin bowls from the Art Nouveau period, with organic shapes and a hammered finish.

The sculptural bowl is signed on the underside 'a. e. Chanal'. It has a wavy, twisted form, a hammered surface, and two graceful loop handles. Next to the signature is an engraved marking that may read 'N/114'; its meaning has not been established.

The second bowl is elongated in shape and decorated with relief of berries and leaves. At one end there is an openworked organic motif. The design nicely aligns with the Jugendstil tradition of the signed bowl.

Specifications:

* Elongated bowl: approx. 31.5 × 18.5 cm; approx. 2.5 cm high; 402 g
* Material: tin
* Period: circa 1900–1920

Both bowls have an authentic patina and signs of age and use. View the photos for your own impression of the condition.
