with an old bow and an old wooden violin case

History regarding the label/violin:
This violin bears a label referring to Josef Kloz in Mittenwald, a well-known violin-maker family from the 18th century. The Kloz family was one of the most significant violin-making dynasties in Mittenwald, Bavaria, and their instruments were valued all over Europe. The label points to a manufacture in the 18th century, although many later instruments carried similar labels as homage or reproduction.
Such violins are highly sought after by collectors of historical string instruments, professional musicians, and lovers of German violin-making art. The Mittenwald violin-making tradition enjoys international renown, and instruments of this origin are prized for their craftsmanship and warm tone. Authentic Kloz violins or high-quality contemporary replicas are in high demand on the market for historical musical instruments and fetch very high prices.
The old instrument comes from an antique dealer in Salzburg and was kept there for decades in a collection of old violins. Now the violin should find a new owner.
The violin is fully functional and ready to play. However, minimal signs of wear due to age are naturally present. See the pictures.

Violas or bows described as 'certified' or 'ascribed' come with pictures of their certificates and therefore indicate a higher degree of documented certainty regarding maker, origin, and age than instruments described only as 'labeled' (viols) or 'stamped' (bows), for which we do not provide any guarantees
