Description from the seller
Antique gold and silver ring with rose-cut diamonds
Antique ring made of gold and silver, set with multiple rose-cut diamonds in a floral design.
Description
The ring has a centrally placed, larger rose-cut diamond, surrounded by eight smaller rose-cut diamonds. Around this central composition is a graceful, scalloped bezel, also set with smaller rose-cut diamonds.
The diamonds are set in silver, as was customary with antique diamond jewelry. The ring shank is made of gold. The combination of gold and silver, the floral composition, and the rose-cut diamonds are characteristic of antique jewelry from the 19th century.
Specifications
* Period: 19th century
* Material: 14-karat gold and 925 silver (XRF tested)
* Diamonds: Rose-cut diamonds
* Design: Flower-shaped setting
* Head diameter: 16.2 mm
* Ring size: +/- 19 mm
* Total weight: 4.3 grams
Condition
In antique condition with clear age- and use-related marks. The silver and the gold ring shank show strong oxidation and discoloration.
The gold ring shank is also oxidized. Antique gold alloys often contain a relatively high proportion of silver and other alloy metals, which over time can cause oxidation and discoloration.
If desired, the next owner can have the ring cleaned and polished to reduce the discoloration. Because the patina present, in our opinion, contributes to the authenticity and historical character of the piece, we have chosen to keep the ring in its current state. We leave the choice for any cleaning or polishing to the next owner.
