Description from the seller
Two Vintage Parker Sterling Silver Ciselé Ballpoint Pens — Early Flat-Top and Later Recessed-Top Versions, Made in USA
From our family's own collection, these two American-made Parker sterling silver ballpoint pens have been treasured over the years and have seen very little use. They feature two different cap-top designs, illustrating the evolution from the earlier flat top to the later recessed top.
Flat-top version: The flat cap-top design is associated with earlier production, approximately the 1960s to the early 1970s.
Recessed-top version: The recessed, or “dished,” cap-top design began appearing around 1970 and is characteristic of 1970s production.
These dates are approximate estimates based on the cap-top styles, rather than confirmed manufacturing dates.
Both pens feature sterling silver caps and barrels with a finely engraved ciselé grid pattern, complemented by gold-tone arrow clips. The silver surfaces and darker recessed lines create an elegant contrast. Visible markings include PARKER, STERLING / STERLING SILVER, and USA markings, with slight differences in the wording and layout between the two pens.
Both pens write properly. Their cap-actuated push mechanisms operate smoothly, with normal spring tension and return action, extending and retracting the refills as intended.
The darker coloration around the cap tops is a naturally developed patina formed over years in the collection, rather than discoloration caused by wear. It adds warmth and character to their vintage appearance.
All photographs show the actual pens. Please refer to them for cosmetic condition, markings, and details.
Due to tax considerations, this lot cannot be shipped to Taiwan.
