AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Antique rectangular frame in Baroque / Second Empire (Louis-Philippe) style – Wood and gilded stucco – Second half of the 19th century

Fascinating and rich rectangular frame from the period, dating to the second half of the 19th century, made of wood with imposing and detailed reliefs in finely molded stucco. The finish is enhanced by a classic period gilding that gives the whole piece great brightness and depth.
The ornament features continuous decorative motifs of foliate volutes and geometric details in a classical taste, typical of the transition between the Louis-Philippe style and late-19th-century Baroque eclecticism.
The frame preserves on the reverse the original filament for anchoring and hanging, and presents a splendid natural patina that testifies to its authenticity and historical charm. An ideal piece to enhance period paintings, spectacles/mirrors, or to be inserted as a standalone decorative element in interiors, whether classical or contemporary.

Dimensions and specifications

• External dimensions: 51 x 42 x 2 cm
• Internal dimensions (margins for picture/mirror): 41 x 32 cm
• Weight: 700 grams

Conditions

The object is in good overall condition, with normal signs of time and age. The wooden structure is solid. There are slight and fascinating surface wear on the gilding and millimetric small losses on the stucco, elements that do not compromise its aesthetics but emphasize its authenticity and period (refer to the attached photo gallery).
