This pair of Mexican onyx bookends in Aztec/Maya style dates from 1950–1960.
Description from the seller
Large pair of vintage hand-carved Mexican honey onyx bookends (2.5 kg) – Aztec / Maya style – circa 1960s/1970s
The sculptures are stylized in the traditional Mesoamerican style and depict impressive Aztec or Maya warriors.
With a height of 15 cm and a total weight of no less than 2470 grams, these bookends are highly suitable for supporting heavy books. Thanks to the natural banding of the onyx stone, each figure has a unique pattern and a warm, semi-transparent glow when light falls on it.
In good vintage condition with normal signs of aging and use in line with the age. See the detailed photos for your own impression of the exact condition).
