This three-light Art Deco commemorative lamp is made of iron and metal and bears the inscription “TIRO FEDERALE BELLINZONA 1929”.
Description from the seller
Commemorative lamp bearing the inscription « TIRO FEDERALE BELLINZONA 1929 », referring to the Federal Shooting Festival held in Bellinzona, in the Swiss canton of Ticino, in 1929.
This object evokes the great Swiss shooting meetings, where competition was accompanied by festivities and a strong commemorative tradition. It was probably made as a souvenir of this event. A purpose as an honorary gift or prize is conceivable, but no document allows confirmation.
Its three-light silhouette recalls the old Florentine-style oil lamps. The twisted stem, the botanical ornaments, the hammered base and the small accessories hanging by chains give it a distinctive decorative character, combining a luminaire with a memory of Swiss history.
Manufacturer unidentified. The inscription dates the commemorated event; the exact manufacturing date of the lamp is not documented.
Total height: 50 cm.
Upper span: about 22 to 23 cm.
Base diameter: 15 cm.
