Description from the seller
This platter is crafted from a true thuya burl, one of the most precious and sought-after woods in the world, sourced exclusively from Morocco. An exceptional piece where the wood is the real protagonist.
Its surface reveals a striking natural pattern: a tangle of speckles, small knots, and swirls, in deep amber, honey, copper, and mahogany hues. These motifs are neither painted nor drawn; they are the fruit of nature herself. The wood is presented as it was extracted, finely polished and satin-finished, giving it a warm glow and making the light play with every movement.
The thuya burl is a genuine rarity. It grows slowly in the trunk and roots of ancient trees, often aged a hundred years or more, and it takes decades, even centuries, for it to reach a size large enough to be worked. Only a tiny fraction of trees produce it, making the material scarce, limited, and increasingly difficult to find. Obtaining a platter of this size from a single burl is an exceptional feat. Each platter is unique, and you will never find two identical patterns.
Another asset: the thuya gives off a natural, warm, woody fragrance that subtly perfumes its surroundings. An authentic scent, peculiar to this noble wood, that lasts over time.
This platter can be used daily for serving, displaying, or storing: on a coffee table, console, or desk, it accommodates your keys, jewelry, watches, glasses, or decorative objects. It can also be displayed as a true collectible piece, to be placed or highlighted on furniture.
Between a practical object and a work of natural art, it will bring a touch of luxury and character to your interior. A beautiful purchase for lovers of fine materials, unique pieces, and exceptional craftsmanship.
