Lantern - Copper, enamel, glass, others - Enamelled lantern

Being offered at auction: this special and not often available enamelled coach lantern. Of course there are modest signs of age.
It will be sent by registered mail.

This enamelled coach lantern dates very likely from the period 1890–1910.
Around the turn of the century (the Belle Époque) the manufacture of luxury carriages reached its absolute peak, just before the automobile fully took over.
The refined cream-white enamel and the detailed ventilation holes in the chimney (the top) indicate a more luxurious, later version that was often mounted on chic city carriages (such as a Fiacre or Victoria) or very early automobiles.
