Bookends - Wood

Charming pair of carved and painted wooden bookends, dating from the first half of the 20th century.
Two figures with expressive faces, absorbed in their reading, are leaning against supports in the shape of books.
The brown tones of the wood are enhanced with touches of black, red and ochre. The undersides are lined with felt to protect the furniture.
Overall good condition, with some wear and small signs of age. Some pieces seem assembled by interlocking: very light movements are perceptible at the level of the figures and the books they hold, linked to this method of assembly.
Dimensions of each bookend: approximately 16 cm high, 8 cm wide and 13.5 cm deep.
Total weight of the pair: about 850 g.
Sold without the presentation books. The photographs complement the description.
