Meerschaum pipe - Sea foam - (4)

Set of 4 antique genuine carved meerschaum pipes and cigar holders – Late 19th / Early 20th century – With original cases

Collection set of 4 pipes and cigar/cigarette holders in a historical style.
Genuine meerschaum, a mineral renowned for its lightness and unique patina. Stems made of genuine amber or period Bakelite.

1. Large carved pipe (red case): Magnificent high-relief carving depicting a horse at full gallop, with a curved stem, presented in its original red velvet case stamped “Guaranteed Genuine Meerschaum.” (I think there is a chip at the back – see photos)
2. Carved cigar holder (blue case): Fine engraving depicting a hunting dog/fox among foliage, supplied in its original hard case.
3. Classic curved pipe (upper case): Clean, traditional shape, displaying a very attractive, even natural amber patina acquired with age. In its original case.
4. Straight pipe (no case): Model carved with a small horse on the shank leading to the bowl.

• Period / Origin: France, circa 1890–1920.

In good overall cosmetic condition for items of this age. The original cases show normal signs of exterior wear but protect the pieces perfectly. The meerschaum carvings are clear and unbroken (see photos for details of the patina and exact condition). A choice set for a tobacco-collecting enthusiast or a cabinet of curiosities.
