Alessi Chocolate box "Peyrano" 90026, in stainless steel, design Alessandro Mendini 1989, manufacture Officina Alessi / Italy 1990.

Stamped in the metal: Officina Alessi, Inox 18/10 & 080165. The bonboniere is in very good condition; the lid fits very well, but needs to be pushed a little into position.

It is known that Mendini meant a lot for Alessi and this design from 1990, for a chocolate dish, is another reminder of this. A design for an everyday and almost classic product which has lost none of its power and impression after more than 20 years. The bowl and lid are made of stainless steel which was polished to give it a high-gloss finish.

Alessandro Mendini is an Italian designer, author and architect. He played an important role in the development of the world-famous Italian design. His style can be described as colourful and his designs immediately stand out. He designed a lot for brands such as Alessi, Kartell and Magis. These designs are also immediately recognisable by his typical style. He is described as a sweet, humble and cordial man. He could also be direct, which ensured that he did well and stood out in the design world. Alessandro Mendini died on 18 February 2019.
