Elie Cartan (1869–1951), one of the most influential French mathematicians of his time, his complete works in six volumes.

Quarto sized (255mm X 178mm) volumes in original publisher’s dark-brown textured cloth bindings (part III vol II is nearer terracotta in colour) with a blind-stamped double border to boards, rough-cut edges and spine lettering of varying colours and brightness.  

Ex-Battelle Institute Library, Seattle, Washington copies - the only clues that these were once institutional copies is a rubber stamp to each top edge and to foot of each title-plage [see photos], and the evidence of shelf mark label removal to the lower spines - absolutely no other markings, stampings, or any other type of ex-library attribute to be found. 			

Condition: An apparently unused or unreferenced set with only vols I & II being the only volumes with all opened leaves - absolutely no inscriptions, annotation, under-linings, etc any where, as well as there being no creasing, etc or any other sings of referencing.  As for the bindings, apart from the not too obtrusive spine shelving labels evidence and top edge stamps, volumes are in neat, clean condition with some fore-corners showing light bumps, a corner with a heavier bump, bumps to spine-ends, and a few light dents to rear board of vol II. Leaves are crisp and age-goldened towards the edges.  Scarce as a full six volume set, and exceptionally scarce with unopened volumes.
