1 pair of Audio Physic Virgo II high-end floor-standing loudspeakers in bird's eye maple finish, for sale privately.

Reference class

These are truly legendary speakers from the time of Joachim Gerhard at Audio Physic.
The Virgo I was referenced by Michael Fremer, Stereophile, see test there from 19 Sep 1995.
See also test in image hifi 2/1996. 
Back then, J. Gerhard again improved the Virgo II in terms of low-frequency reproduction in that the (lateral) woofers were now installed about 20 cm lower than in the Virgo I. The Virgo II no longer has much in common with later versions of the Audio Physic Virgo, but rather with the floor-standing loudspeakers from Bauer Audio. Suesskind Audio probably still has a service today, but I see no need for it.
The speakers appear pleasantly unobtrusive, but they sound spectacular; they can create an incredible platform if set up correctly, see also: Canalis, Principles and Techniques of Speaker Placement.
My copies are very well maintained and optically in absolutely living room condition, despite their age. If you look for it, you might find a few tiny signs of wear on the case. But you really have to search very hard.



The sound is a masterpiece, the function impeccable. The beads are made of durable rubber and flawless. However, the selling price should already take this into account.


About the photos: Surely you can make better ones, maybe that will come too. I only took one speaker to take photos of, leaving the other one in place. Far too heavy, and then there was the risk of causing some scratches, so I preferred not to do it. But the reader can be sure that both LS are not only technically but also visually in top condition.

What is not photographed are the spikes, which are part of it and are available for both LS. But they were never used. Under the feet of the speakers I have 4 very elastic rubber nubs, and also a pad made of foam rubber tailored for this purpose.

I have decided to sell these speakers for 3 reasons: a) since my ability to hear well is declining, and I now have hearing aids, but that does not mean that I am deaf, there is still a lot missing. And I'm also selling the speakers because b) they're too big for the space currently available, b) I don't have my analogue REVOX B251 anymore, it just had to be something digital.

At the moment, if you want to try out the Virgo, it runs on a digital Yamaha AS701, which has 2 pairs of speaker outputs.
Unfortunately, I no longer have original invoices and packaging.


Only self-collection in Lübeck and cash payment. Visiting and listening is possible, as they are still connected.
