Elegant side table or console table of mahogany and copper top, ca. 1920, in the style of the Wiener Werkstätte, at the time of the Wiener Secession; in this period, furniture and art objects were given a more geometric design and were less decorated, in anticipation of the Art Deco movement.

This table has similarities with side tables designed by Josef Hoffmann (architect). Has the same round legs that are finished at the bottom with a copper sleeve and are anchored in the lower leaf by means of a wooden screw system. The table top is covered with hammered copper.

Under the bottom leaf a faded stamp is legible: ''Gesetzlich Geschützt''. This text was used in Austria, among other places, to indicate that a design is protected by copyright. This may refer to the way in which the legs are fixed in the base.

Condition/details:

The wooden parts are in good condition and the table is sturdy. The copper is beautifully patinated and shows some dents and spots. The table legs and attachments are complete and in original condition. There are some old wormholes visible at the bottom. The wood has been treated and the woodworm is not active.

Dimensions: 75 cm high, 57 cm (front view) long and 37 cm deep
