Francesco Catania Guitar 

Francesco Catania was a Sicilian guitar and mandolin maker in the mid 20th century . Anyone who knows the history of Gypsy Jazz Maccaferri style guitars, will know that a few luthiers from Sicily and Naples moved to Paris bringing with them their tradition of guitar making - these guitars later evolved into the Selmer, Castelluccia, Di Mauro, Busato etc., large body acoustic jazz guitars. 

Maccaferri largely took all the credit for the design of these guitars, but many of the same features had been used on Italian guitars previously and subsequently. This Catania is a good example in point. Probably dating from the 1950s or 60s it has the traditional Italian headstock design, a straight cut-away, but a regular round sound-hole. 

Fully original except from the Tailpiece, this is a 6 string tailpiece, guitar have been equipped with new guitar strings.
