A good size rectangular gilt brass stamps box, measuring 22.5cm in length and weighing 1329g, standing on four claw feet, profusely decorated in neo-classical style with scrolling acanthus leaves emanating from Greco-Roman urns, the hinged lid revealing a sloping box with five compartments for stamps of different denominations. Marked to the underside with "DL Déposé". Although we have not been able to identify the foundry accurately, it appears that DL was a prolific manufacturer of high quality desktop accessories in the late 19th and early 20th century. 

Condition: Very good, no damages or repairs. Minor wear commensurate with age. 

This lot will be carefully packaged and sent by registered and insured mail.
