By the eighties, any trace of the character that defined American performance cars from the sixties had legally disappeared, well, almost. Hidden deep in the corners of the engineering and marketing departments of car companies were rebellious people, who could transform fairly innocuous mainstream models into something almost pleasurable.

The Trans Am was available with a 2.5-ltr four-cylinder up to and including the 5.0-ltr V-8. Optional again: the TPI (Tuned Port Injection) version, now available with a manual or automatic transmission.

Performance enthusiasts were presented with a new choice: a beastly, if not filthy, GTA rendition of the long-lived Trans Am. In addition to exterior items such as a revised spoiler and rocker skirts, the $2,700 GTA option included the largest V-8 to be found under Firebird bonnets in years: 350-cid (5.7-ltr), lifted from Corvette, with tuned port injection.

This Trans Am GTA is in beautiful,  original condition. All original body panels and factory GM paint of the car have been preserved. It is  supplied in a red 'Flame red metallic' paint with 'Gold metallic' accents and details. The fabric interior is finished in the colour dark red 'Burgundy'. The entire interior is GM original and is like new. The dashboard, door panels, steering wheel, gauges, radio and headliner are perfect and need no attention. This car has the overhead console with map lighting, onboard computer and auto-tilting rearview mirror. The electric, folding rear hatch is fastened perfectly and pulls down and locks the hatch as designed by GM.

This one was imported to the Netherlands from America in 2020. This is demonstrable with the available invoices.

The wheels are in the original GM special GTA 'Cross-lace-style' and look like new. The lugs still have all their caps, valves even have the original grey caps. The brakes are original and work properly. A new exhaust was fitted.

More desirable aspects that are present include: air conditioning, electric locks, electric windows and a graphic equaliser.

This car has the largest engine offered in 1987 with its 5.7 ltr (350 V8) of approx. 245 hp. The transmission is the GM stock automatic with overdrive. The engine and transmission run like new with tons of power and torque with nice crisp shifts.

Various import invoices are available. In addition, there is a 'Certificate of Title' from 1993 for the state of Indiana. We rarely come across such a well-preserved, original car!
